SHOTGUN FUNDAMENTALS

Course Description

This course is focused on teaching the shooter the fundamentals in the handling and use of a shotgun.

• Ammunition Selection 
• Fundamental reinforcement 
• Various loading and unloading techniques 
• Shotgun to Pistol transitions 
• Patterning Buck shot 
• Kneeling Positions 
• Target to Target transitions 
• Malfunction clearances 
• Zeroing with slug ammunition 
• Select slug changeovers 
• Movement 
• Use of cover

Equipment List

• Shotgun equipped with a sling and ammunition side saddle 
• Pistol 
• Belt mounted, dominant side holster 
• Sturdy belt at least 1.5” wide 
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning 
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather 
• Hat with a brim • Optional Knee and elbow pads 
• Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses 
• Earmuffs and earplugs

Prerequisites

This is an intermediate level class. Students must have a CCW permit and proof of said permit before being allowed to attend class.  The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, marksmanship skills, and working from a holster.  Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.
