Course Description

This course will cover the use of handgun mounted optical sights, such as red dot sights from various manufacturers. The course will cover different optics, their use, and problems associated with their use.

Equipment List

  • Handgun with mounted electronic optic, iron sights
  • An Inside or Outside the waistband holster for appendix, 3 or 4 o’clock. The holster must stay open when the gun is not in the holster, kydex or high quality leather, no nylon soft holsters. Holsters must be approved by the instructor at the beginning of class. NO serpa style holsters allowed.
  • Magazine carriers
  • Belt to support holster and magazine carrier
  • At least 3 magazines (more if it is a low capacity gun)
  • Ear/eye pro
  • Ball cap
  • Range suitable clothing, water
 

Prerequisites

This is an intermediate level class. Students must have a CCW permit and proof of said permit before being allowed to attend class.  The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, marksmanship skills, and working from a holster.  Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training.
