Course Description
This course will focus on providing the student the skills necessary to finish the fight and provide life saving care until help arrives.
Course Outline
- Assess and Prioritize Injuries
- Control life-threatening bleeding with multiple techniques
- How to safely move and extricate casualties
- Airway Management – Chest Seals, Pneumothorax
- Circulation Management – Pressure Bandages
- Hypothermia Prevention
- How to Maintain Trauma – Specific First Aid Kits
- How to Recognize Stages and Symptoms of Blood Loss – Changes in Mental State, Pulse, Blood Pressure, and Respiratory Rate
- How to Prevent Further Harm
- How to Finish the Fight to Provide Life Saving Care Until Help Arrives
Equipment List
- Pistol
- 3 Magazines that hold 12+ rounds
- Full size and mid-size pistols recommended. Pistols must be equivalent in size to Glock 17 and Glock 19.
- No Micro or pocket pistols such as Kimber Micro, Sig 365, P238, P938, HellCat, MP Shield or Glock 43.
- Magazine holders
- Holster. Strong side, or Appendix only. No cross-draw holsters, shoulder holsters or fanny pack holsters.
- Shooting glasses. ANSI Z87 OSHA Approved Safety Glasses.
- Hearing protection. Electronic Hear protection preferred. Equivalent to Howard Leight Impact
- Clothing and shoes for outdoor weather. No open toed shoes.
- Baseball cap
- Snacks and water
Prerequisites
This is an intermediate to advance level class. This class is physically demanding, and students must be in good general overall health. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, marksmanship skills, and working from a holster. Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training. Please ensure you have read through the class description and fully understand our prerequisites before registering.
