Course Description
This course is focused on teaching marksmanship basic fundamentals of the AR15.
Course Outline
• Operation and function of modern sporting rifles
• Safe handling skills: shoot, reload, and unload
• Rifle manipulation skills
• Marksmanship fundamentals
• Zeroing procedures (iron sights, red dots, other optics)
• Positional shooting drills
• Multiple target transitions
• Cleaning and maintenance
• Rifle selection and support equipment review
• Ammunition selection, handling, and storage
• Safe carry, transport and storage
Equipment List
• Semi-automatic Carbine or AR-15 with sling (300 BLK, 223, 308)
• 3 magazines (minimum)
• Magazine holder
• Footwear suitable for rapid movement and turning
• Clothing suitable for training in any weather
• Shooting gloves (optional based on student comfort)
• Knee and elbow pads (optional based on student comfort)
• Wraparound eyewear with polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription
• Electronic hearing protection, earmuffs or earplugs
Prerequisites
This is a basic to intermediate level class. Students must have a CCW permit and proof of said permit before being allowed to attend class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, marksmanship skills, and working from a holster. Students failing to meet and maintain our safety requirements and/or who cannot meet and immediately demonstrate the minimum skills required for the specific class may be removed from training.
